MSToolbox Nai Ding The Modulation Spectrum Toolbox (MSToolbox) generates the modulation spectrum of sounds based on the procedures described by the following paper. Temporal Modulations Reveal Distinct Rhythmic Properties of Speech and Music Nai Ding, Aniruddh Patel, Lin Chen, Henry Butler, Cheng Luo, David Poeppel. The linked zip folder contains the pertinent code, practice stimuli, and a read me file.
TopoToolbox Xing Tian TopoToolbox is an open-source software for topographic analysis on the event-related electrophysiological (EEG/MEG) data based on the method proposed by Tian and Huber (2008). TopoToolbox provides a tool for researchers to directly derive robust measures of response pattern (topographic) similarity and psychological meaningful response magnitude using electromagnetic signals in sensor space. These measures are useful for testing psychological theories without anatomical descriptions.
FieldTrip Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behavior FieldTrip includes algorithms for simple and advanced analysis of MEG, EEG, and invasive electrophysiological data, such as time-frequency analysis, source reconstruction using dipoles, distributed sources and beamformers and non-parametric statistical testing. It supports the data formats of all major MEG systems (CTF, Neuromag, BTi) and of the most popular EEG systems, and new formats can be added easily. FieldTrip contains high-level functions that you can use to construct your own analysis protocols in Matlab. Furthermore, it easily allows developers to incorporate low-level algorithms for new EEG/MEG analysis methods.

Apex 3 is a software platform for auditory behavioural and psychophysical experiments. It provides a generic means of setting up experiments without any programming. The supported output devices include sound cards and the Nucleus cochlear implant.

Many psychophysical procedures are provided and there is an interface to add custom procedures. Plug-in interfaces are provided for data filters and external controllers. Different platforms are supported, including Linux and Windows.

MLP is a MATLAB toolbox implementing the maximum likelihood adaptive procedure for auditory threshold estimation developed by Green (1990, 1993). This adaptive procedure is particularly appealing for those psychologists that need to estimate auditory thresholds with a good degree of accuracy and in a short time. MLP comes with a graphical interface and it is provided with several built-in, classic psychoacoustics experiments ready to use at mouse click.



Percept is software designed for auditory research. The software is primarily developed in Matlab® but includes extensions for online activities, sound processing control for hearing devices, and real-time analysis and control.

The psycon software package comes with psycon_response. Psycon is for signal generation and psychoacoustic test administration and is to be used by the experimenter. Psycon_response is the program for the subject: it provides the instruction for the subject and collects responses from the subject. While both programs communicate with each other via the network protocol, the user only needs to specify the machine of the other program when launching each program to establish the connection

PsySound3 is software for the analysis of sound recordings using physical and psychoacoustical algorithms. It is an easy to use platform that does precise analysis using standard acoustical measurements, as well as implementations of psychoacoustical and musical models (such as loudness, sharpness, roughness, fluctuation strength, pitch, rhythm and running IACC).
